LG ships Optimus 3D, hints AT&T model due in weeks

LG late Thursday said it had started shipping the Optimus 3D. Its range-topping Android phone should be ready to go in Europe first and is already up for pre-order at Amazon UK with a tentative July 13 ship date and a steep contract-free price equivalent to $ 969. Over 60 regions would get the new Optimus in the “next several weeks,” hinting that the AT&T Thrill 4G is due before the end … Read entire article »

AT&T Galaxy S II confirmed by Samsung Singapore

AT&T Galaxy S II confirmed by Samsung Singapore

Plans for an AT&T Galaxy S II, widely known as the Attain, were inadvertently spoiled on Saturday by Samsung Singapore’s Facebook page. The site showed a photo of Galaxy S II accessories with a clearly AT&T-branded phone in an HDMI dock that’s unlike either the stock Galaxy S II or the Infuse 4G. It has the same large, squared-off design but has the four touch-sensitive buttons of the Captivate, AT&T’s original Galaxy S … Read entire article »

AT&T cuts on-contract price of Atrix 4G in half

The Motorola Atrix 4G smartphone can now be had for $ 100 on a two-year contract at AT&T. This is half the price of the handset when it was originally launched in March, suggesting sales are less than stellar. The phone’s specs are certainly attractive enough, with a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and 4-inch touchscreen. There is also 1 GB of RAM onboard and 16GB of internal storage. At the same time, the optional keyboard dock accessory for the phone was reduced to $ 300, down from the original $ 500. It effectively turns the phone into a small netbook, as it sports an 11.6-inch display. Either price is the lowest so far for a new Atrix 4G handset and dock. Gadget News … Read entire article »

Sony S2 tablet pops up at FCC with AT&T 3G bands

The unique Sony dual-screen Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet first unveiled in late April has made a visit to the FCC for wireless certification. The device will carry the model number SGPT211JP/S (for Japan) and will support the 850MHz and 1900MHz bands in North America, indicating a likely launch on AT&T’s network in the US. An additional discovery shows that it is using the Ericsson F5521g cellular chipset that is capable of supporting HSPA+ at speeds … Read entire article »

AT&T working on Apple mini-SIM, sees low Windows Phone sales

AT&T’s wireless head Ralph de la Vega in an interview late this week said his company was also joining in Apple’s plan to develop an even smaller SIM card. He hesitated to directly make the link with Apple, like France Telecom’s CEO did, but confirmed AT&T was “working with the industry” to shrink beyond existing sizes. It would “probably” happen, he explained to AllThingsD, and was something that was a logical conclusion. “We think that making the card smaller and shrinking the size is a no-brainer,” he said. Apple is believed to be the primary impetus behind development of a standard that would be smaller still than the micro SIM, which itself was a standard first adopted by Apple for the iPad and iPhone 4. The electronics designer is … Read entire article »
